Freedom from debt is an achievable goal for every family. The first step in regaining control is to take an honest look at your existing obligations.

The questions in the site’s Debt Test are good ones — look at them.  They are serious red flags that you might be in over your head.  The Debt Load Worksheet that is part of that post also is helpful, and I recommend you look at it.  Developing a plan is going to be helpful for you — but beware, be very careful, of paying a company to help you make payoffs.  More about this later.
